Four Temperaments Theory

Hippocrates developed the theory that the choleric, melancholic, phlegmatic and sanguine temperaments are the results of various extreme bodily fluid levels:
  • choleric - having too much yellow bile resulting in an independent, decisive, results oriented and ambitious temperament

  • melancholic - having too much black bile resulting in an analytical, introverted, perfectionistic and quiet temperament

  • phlegmatic - having too much phlegm resulting in a relaxed, peaceful, quiet and sympathetic temperament

  • sanguine - having too much blood resulting in an optimistic, extroverted, active and risk taking temperament
Napoleon Bonaparte, Bill Gates and Donald Trump are choleric.  Vincent Van Gogh, Albert Einstein and Jordan Peterson are melancholic.  Charlie Rose, Fred Rogers and Steve Wozniak are phlegmatic.  Pablo Picasso, Elvis Presley and Ronald Reagan are sanguine.
