Carnot Engines

Heat engines convert heat to work. The most efficient heat engines do not increase the entropy. Therefore, they are reversible. Such engines are referred to as Carnot engines. Heat engines with greater efficiencies would be able to produce more work. This would enable them to move more energy when driving Carnot engines in reverse. That would lead to a decrease in the entropy which is impossible.
