Replacing The Internet

Some reasons a replacement for the internet is needed:

• The Internet is optimized for conversations but is mainly used for broadcasting.
• The Internet is optimized for static devices but is increasingly used by mobile devices.
• The Internet is insecure.

A new communications network optimized for broadcasting and mobile devices, with built in automatic security, would be a significant improvement. An example of a communications network optimized for broadcasting is the BitTorrent system. An example of a communications network that attempts to address all these issues is the Named Data Networking system.
