Simple Single Slit Diffraction Experiment

Place a hand in front of your eyes. Make a tiny gap between two fingers in front of a light source and look through the gap. You should see gray lines parallel to your fingers appear in the gap. You may need to try various distances from your eyes. Those gray lines are regions of destructive interference due to single slit diffraction!
